  • A worthy copper view from the Qatar economic conference. “It takes about 10 to 20 years to build a copper mine.” See: Ivanhoe Mines Executive Tags Takeovers, I-Pulse IPO.
  • Nevada’s Ridgeline Minerals RDG is a hidden silver explorer catching attention. We reached CEO Chad Peters. (Below.*)

Ridgeline (below*hopes for the same success that a select crop of Nevada gold-silver-poly-metallic explorers have enjoyed in the stock market, and in raising cash. Until now, that success has not come.

Silver, and of course copper and the other physical metals’ 2024 gains s-l-o-wl-y are boosting the small roy-cos.

Monday, May 20, each of these traded higher in the U.S. markets. For the first time in a long spell, Canada-cos whose shares are main-listed in Toronto saw thick holiday volume and gains in their over-the-counter listings in the U.S.

EMX Royalty, Metalla Royalty & Streaming MTA, Vox Royalty VOXR, Elemental-Altus Royalties ELE ELEMF are the royalty companies  we track. [I do not own Vox.] The rare holiday gains came for dozens of small, or junior miners: Summa Silver, Blackrock Silver, F3 Uranium, GoviEx Uranium, Canalaska Uranium, Dolly Varden Silver, Victoria Gold, and so on.

Matt Geiger, San Francisco fund manager at MJG Capital, says royalty companies have limited exposure to silver. Metalla is probably the smallest ($300 million) pub-co roy-co with the most silver NSRs (net smelter royalties) — much of the royalty cache bought years ago from Coeur Mining CDE

Silver fans run against the stream – like the ‘salmon’ runners in the upcoming San Francisco Bay To Breakers Race this weekend. Image below. That is, silver nuts pound tables when silver is running — not often until this month.

They also pound tables when silver is getting pummeled and dropping to level-90 silver to gold price ratios.
TCR Take: Aya Gold & Silver and Dolly Varden Silver and several others likely will continue to lead the price pack this coming week. Vizsla Silver as well. Maybe Blackrock Silver — I own none of those.

Among the small explorers here at The Calandra Report, Mexico producer Avino Silver & Gold ASM’s shares are back above $1 and are capable of 7% and greater percentage gains on table-pounding days. Nevada explorer Blackrock Silver BRC also has shares that look to be capable of  large percentage gains in coming days. [I do not own any of these.]

Ridgeline Minerals At Selena*

I tagged Ridgeline Minerals RDG RDGMF earlier this week. That is the Nevada explorer I have owned, visited and-or tracked for five or so years.

Selena Targets For Ridgeline Minerals
Look briefly at Selena, a Nevada polymetallic porphyry, skarn and sulfide prospect.

Ridgeline shares have until a week or so ago been moribund.

Our earlier reports here have trekked Selena in south-central Nevada.

I asked Chad Peters, young geo-CEO,  what could be moving the shares RDG RDGMF,

“It’s definitely been a happy surprise seeing the volume increase on the stock the past week. I know of multiple investors who were interested in  opening a starter position in RDG but they were waiting until we closed a financing. It looks like the oversubscribed placement ($2.2 million CAD two weeks ago) combined with a bit of lucky timing with commodities taking off again is working in our favor,” Chad said.

Ridgeline’s Selena property, where I was with Matt Geiger in Nevada 18 months ago, is getting attention for its silver (and its zinc and lead and gold, maybe tungsten). Matt and I, and a couple of high-net-worth investors, ‘hand-drilled’ targets and got instant readings on polymetallic grades. (See photo please.)

Silver and Selena (39 square kilometers) look to be why RDG shares are hopping. Specifically, the Chinchilla zone there and a nearby porphyry (see map).

Matt Geiger, the (again) young fund manager, points me to a Ridgeline X (Twitter) feed that the silver aficionados are swamping this month: $RDG X feed. Matt also notes that strategist Rick Rule took part in that recent Ridgeline financing.

Chad, a Thunder Bay, Ontario, geologist, started the Nevada explorer 6 years ago. He his family moved to Nevada (Winnemucca, then Reno) four or so years ago.

He and his team, with geo Mike Harp, are patient. Take a look, for one, at Ridgeline’s Selena Chinchilla Zone sulfides press release: January 2023.

Then in March 2024 (this year), this statement about magnetic anomalies and gravity readings of a high-grade, so-called carbonate replacement deposit porphyry and skarn: see release please.

I own RDG RDGMF shares. The shares are moving. Please don’t chase ’em.

Hootie: Just out the door of (yes I own the sharesEMX Royalty‘s Denver-area office is Hootie the Great Horned Owl. With a chick.

“We have a nesting pair of Great Horned Owls here at the office,” Scott Close, a geologist in his own right and the longtime corporate communications exec for EMX, tells me. Scott shot the photos here.

Hootie is no longer just a big wad of banana yellow down but is flagging out his/ her flight feathers,” Scott says.

Thanks for the photos, Scott. We all should be so, what, wise?

Here is the Hootie boilerplate:

The deep-hooting Great Horned Owl is the owl of storybooks. It takes down birds and mammals larger than itself and also consumes scorpions, mice and frogs. It’s one of the most common owls in North America.– Cornell Labs

— Thom Calandra [I own Elemental-Altus Royalties and Metalla. And EMX. My preferred copper comes from Ivanhoe Mines IVN IVPAF on the producer side and Ivanhoe Electric IE on the explorer side. The only sole silver explorer whose shares I own is Summa Silver SSVR, active in Nevada and New Mexico.]
